as Tambour beading or embroidery with
rhinestones) is done entirely by hand using a
special hook – think tiny crochet – to embroider
the reverse side of the fabric with jewels, beads
or sequins. This supremely delicate technique
has become synonymous with Parisian
embroidery house Lesage, who have been
creating stunning embroidery for haute couture
houses since 1924. Rather than outsourcing to
an embroidery house, specialists in Pronovias’
Barcelona workshop have conceptualised and
perfected the Lesage methods.

STARRY EYED
Hervé Moreau’s 2020 Pronovias Cruise
Collection is, quite literally, heavenly. Inspired
by the night-sky, these dresses will illuminate
the aisle with their sparkling lace, metallic
threads, gold brocade, and sequins and crystals
galore. Organised into eight distinctive style
families ranging from dramatic ballgown to
effortless bohemian, there is a dress (or perhaps
even a tuxedo!) to capture every bride’s
personality. The bride’s comfort has always
been a top priority for Moreau, but with a
renewed lightweight structure and sensorial fit,
no one will get you off that dancefloor.

B

orn as a Spanish family business more
than 50 years ago, Pronovias is now
firmly established as the leading global
luxury bridal brand. Pronovias is renowned for
tying the knot between wedding dresses and
fashion – it was the first bridal brand to launch
a pret-a-porter collection – while remaining true
to its heritage and founding values: creativity,
craftmanship and quality.
Since 2013, Artistic Director Hervé Moreau
has been dedicated to fulfilling the dress dreams
of every Pronovias bride. ‘I define myself as a
curious, hardworking and optimistic person,
and I try to reflect those qualities in the dresses
I create,’ he says. ‘Pronovias represents all
women, so I design for all styles, from dramatic
and intricate to delicate and light.’

A STITCH IN TIME
An average of 200-400 hours’ painstaking work
goes into the making of a Pronovias dress, with
an Atelier Pronovias dress – their Haute Couture
Collection – taking up to 800 hours. Not only
is every dress made by hand, but nearly all
embroidery is completed using the 19th-century
Lunéville technique. Named after its birthplace
in the Lorraine region, Lunéville (also known
