All hail the original influencer: Paris Hilton.
As the hotel heiress, businesswoman, model,
singer, actress, designer and DJ said, ‘I invented
getting paid to party.’ Where would Kim
Kardashian be without Paris? So great is her
influence that when Kendall Jenner turned 21
she had LaBourjoisie recreate Paris’ sequinned
silver Julien Macdonald dress that she wore for
her 21st. Noughties nostalgia was a recurrent
theme on the Spring/Summer catwalks, with
microminis, low-rise jeans and a healthy splash
of logomania. And who embodied those heady
days better than Paris? Up-and-coming label
Area NYC sent Hilton lookalikes down the
catwalk in glitzy two-pieces and cut-out dresses,
while Versace’s one-shoulder top-and-miniskirt
look simply screams hot heiress. A jewelled flip
phone may be dated now, but look to Christian
Louboutin, Dolce & Gabbana and Moschino
for a 2019 update: an OTT glitzy phone case.
Annakiki As Paris would say: that’s hot.
