Frustrated by the lack of diversity in main-
stream media, poet, model, trans-visibility
activist and long-time member of creative
collective BBZ, 23-year-old Kai-Isaiah Jamal
has made it his life’s mission to change the
status quo. This year, he’s penned a poem for
a Stella McCartney campaign in which he
encouraged men and women to talk openly
about breast cancer and was recently named
the Institute of Contemporary Art’s first poet
in residence, all the while working on his first
poetry anthology.
