BRIE PASSANO
The fall issue of Country Gardens is always my favorite
because it is the best refl ection of our readers’ passion for
gardening. Every year for more than 20 years, hundreds of
you have sent photos and letters showing us your gardens
and the evidence just keeps piling up: You LOVE growing
and nurturing plants that make your world more beautiful
and delicious.
Out of the almost 300 entries we received in 2017, we
selected three gardens to share with the world. All were
photographed in the summer of 2018 and they have now
made their way to the pages of Country Gardens. This year,
you’ll see gardens from Oregon, Ohio, and Wisconsin. A
year from now you’ll see gardens from Maine, Washington,
and Colorado.
In every issue, we encourage you to enter your garden
in the contest (see page 9 for details), so grab a camera and
capture it for us. We’d love to see it and help you share it!
This year’s deadline is September 30, so don’t put it off any
longer. You and your garden have a story to tell.

Before you close the shed doors for the season,
take some photos of your garden—if not for
our annual contest, then for yourself. Now that
I’ve urged you to record your garden in photos,
I’ve also reminded myself. Thank goodness for
cell phone cameras!
