After a lengthy search,
Australian director Baz
Luhrmann has announced that a
relatively unknown actor will put
on the legendary singer’s blue
suede shoes in an upcoming
epic about the singer’s life.
Austin Butler (27), who was
until now best known as being
High School Musical star
Vanessa Hudgens’ boyfriend,
has secured the coveted role.
Big-name stars such as Harry
Styles and Ansel Elgort (both 25)
were considered for the gig, but
the Moulin Rouge! director has
confirmed Austin landed the

t was a trimmed-down Simon
Cowell who stepped out in
Malibu last week, with the star
creator crediting his new vegan
lifestyle for his lithe physique.
Simon (59) has lost more than
10kg since embracing a healthier
lifestyle due to a scary hospital
admission in 2017, after he
fainted due to low blood pressure
while going down a set of stairs.
“I went to see this specialist
and he said to me after doing
some blood work, ‘You can’t have
red meat, dairy, sugar, bread or
gluten,’” says Simon.
He is allowed alcohol, though
“maybe not quite as much”.
