A HINT OF POWDER
You are at no risk of dulling
your fresh-faced complexion
with the new generation of
finishing powders, try Laura
Mercier Candleglow Sheer Perfecting Powder, $65.
These pressed powders have silky pigments to cleverly
set make-up while adding a soft-focus finish and subtle
glow. Use a big powder brush to dust lightly over where
it’s needed. No chalkiness here!

CREATE A SMOOTH
C A N VA S
Dry, flaky patches only get amplified
once foundation goes on. A gentle
exfoliator massaged over clean skin
goes a long way to buffing away
any loose skin cells and creating
more of a flawless, silky base for your
foundation to be smoothed onto.
Massage a small amount of one
such as Snowberry Nourishing
Exfoliator, $47, in small, circular
movements for about one minute
before rinsing away. Remember to
include places such as your hairline,
around the nose, in your eyebrows
and over your lips.

2

MAKE IT PLUMP
Follow with a serum,
moisturiser or both to
load your skin with
wrinkle-plumping
hydration to make your
complexion look soft
and dewy. Look out
for ingredients such as
hyaluronic acid or glycerine, which will prevent your skin from drying
out during the day. Take time to massage one such as Nivea Cellular
Hyaluron Filler Day Cream, $28, into your skin well to boost
circulation and leave it soft and glowing.

PRIME
Primer is the not-so-secret
secret of professional make-up
artists for creating that flawless
base we all crave. Not only does
it give your foundation longevity
by locking it on, but it also blurs
imperfections and creates a
smoothing layer over lines so your
make-up is less likely to settle in
them. Try smoothing a small amount
of Elizabeth Arden Flawless Start
Instant Perfecting Primer, $61, over
moisturised skin. Be sure to allow it
to dry for a few minutes so it stays
in all the right places.

NOW FOR FOUNDATION
For a youthful, healthy glow,
think of your foundation as a way
to even out your skin tone rather
than completely cover it like a
mask. Choose one that has plenty
of shade options to closely match
your skin tone such as L’ O r é a l
Paris True Match Foundation,
$31.9 9, and dot it lightly onto the
middle of your forehead, nose,
chin and cheeks. Next, take a
soft brush such as Revlon’s new
Buffing Foundation Brush, $26.99,
and use it to blend your make-
up from the centre of your face
outwards. Use the residue on
the brush to buff it out towards
your hairline so it looks seamless.

EXTRA COVERAGE
Once you’ve used foundation to
make your skin look its very best, you
might need to go back over areas
that require a little extra coverage,
such as under the eyes or around
the nose, with a concealer. Aim for
one that gives a decent amount of
coverage with a creamy, luminous
finish such as Estée Lauder Double
Wear Radiant Concealer, $58. Dot
it on and blend with the same brush
you used for your foundation, or a
slightly damp sponge.
