ou would never know that the two couples hadn’t met
before. Prince Harry and the Duchess of Sussex greeted
Beyoncé Knowles and her husband Jay-Z like old friends
at the European premiere of The Lion King remake.
Meghan hugged Beyoncé, who voices Nala in the film, and
the singer told the duchess, “We love you guys. Your baby is
so beautiful.” She added Meghan was “my princess”, which
triggered a meltdown among royal fans on Twitter.
Harry hugged Beyoncé (37) and shared a manly handshake
with Jay-Z (49). “Congratulations on the birth of your baby,”
Jay-Z said to Meghan. He pecked her on the cheek before
adding a parenting tip. “The best advice I can give you –
always find some time for yourself.”
Sir Elton John and his husband David Furnish were up next.
Elton (72) whispered something in Meghan’s ear – Elton and
David (56) go way back with Harry and his late mother Princess
Diana, so he may also have been imparting sage advice.
That Beyoncé admires Meghan is in no doubt. When she and
Jay-Z were given a BRIT award this year, in the background of
their video message of acceptance was a portrait of Meghan
as the Mona Lisa, wearing a crown.
They later explained, “In honour of Black History Month, we
bow down to one of our Melanated Monas. Congrats on your
pregnancy! We wish you so much joy.” The remark refers to
Meghan’s biracial heritage.
And the admiration goes both ways. Meghan appeared
careful not to upstage the singer at the premiere, donning
a simple black silk number paired with slingbacks, next to
Beyoncé’s one-shoulder gold dress, slashed to the waist.

Can you feel the love?
