French perfume house Henry Jacques introduces
the second fragrance duo in its Les Toupies
collection: the mysteriously named No. 16 de HJ
and No. 81 de HJ, which continue the tale of
delicate, elegantly balanced scents started by
the fi rst “couple”, Mr H and Mrs Y. No. 16 exudes
a more feminine fl oral air with opening notes of
gardenia, Madagascan ylang-ylang and violet,
with the subtle presence of Rose de Mai at its
core. No. 81, meanwhile, fl exes its masculine
muscle with top notes of bergamot and citrusy
grapefruit, before mellowing to smoky and woody
layers with discreet spicy fl ourishes. Both come in
futuristic-looking crystal fl acons.
