WHATISIT?
A breathtaking country escape, just a stone’s
throw away from the hustle and bustle of
London life. Hop on the tube to Chalfont &
Latimer and discover one of the De Vere’s
estates nestled in the quiet village of Latimer.
Brimming with rich history, the marvellous
mansion, which dates as far back as 1194AD,
has been labelled one of Britain’s most top
secret homes after being used by military
intelligence during World War Two. Following a
recent £7 million refurbishment, the building’s
classic heritage is reflected in the new, earthy
décor and traditional features such as vintage
typewriters and telephones. OK! hit the hay
on the crisp white sheets of one of the chic
Junior Suites, which featured warm lighting,
contemporary art work
and stunning views of
the Chess Valley.
WHYDOWE
LOVEIT?
For such a perfectly
peaceful location,
there’s still so much
to discover. Just a
20-minute drive down
the road, you’ll find the
famous Warner Bros Studios Tour London –
The Making Of Harry Potter. Or take the car
to Little Missenden, the village where Roald
Dahl began putting pen to paper and visit
the award-winning museum and story centre.
If you don’t
have a car,
there are still
30 acres of
grounds to
explore. OK!

Prefer to
travel on
foot? Enjoy the wildlife on the popular ten-
mile walk along the River Chess, where you’ll
see more historic buildings, water meadows
and nature reserves. Don’t worry about rain,
there are umbrellas and Wellies to borrow.
WHOGOES?
A whole host of high-profile celebrities enjoy
visiting the De Vere estates – some of whom
prefer to do so under the radar – so keep an
eye out! Love Island’s Wes Nelson and I’m A
Celebrity – Get Me Out Of Here! star Jake
Quickenden have both checked in.
