A
pologies in advance for being the bearer
of bad news, but when things heat up
in summer, you might find your regular
make-up and skincare regime just won’t cut
it. It’s a common misconception that sweat causes
breakouts – in fact, we sweat not only to lower our
body temperature, but also to get freshly oxygenated
blood to our cells and help remove impurities. It’s
only when perspiration is combined with bacteria
that breakouts form – so in terms of make-up, less is
more. Through much trial and error over the years,
I’ve learnt to switch my daily moisturiser to a gel-
based formula like Murad’s Nutrient-Charged Water
Gel, as dense creams can suffocate your skin when
temperatures climb, a perfect storm for breakouts.
Make-up still features, but priming correctly takes
centre stage to avoid the make-up melt.
I’ve done my homework and these are my
heatwave essentials. Side note: stay hydrated;
glugging water is non-negotiable.
