A
s we sat around the
dinner table, I took
a deep breath.
ÔI know what I want
to do for a living,
I told my adoptive
parents. ‘Be a bounty hunter.’
It was May 2015, and I was
- Growing up on a large,
secluded farm, it’d always been
expected I’d work on the land.
‘That’s not
happening,’ my
father said firmly.
My parents
were strict and
I’d followed their
rules all my life.
Wearing demure

defendant turns up in court.
But if they go on the run, or
I catch baddies... I’ve even
jailed my own mum!

hunting seemed perfect.
That night, I sneakily did
a bit of research. Creeping into
my dad’s study, I searched for
How to become
a bounty hunter
on his computer.
Dozens of
results flashed
up. One business,
Bounty Hunter
Bootcamp, was
local, and offered
to train recruits.
But, as I went
to e-mail them,
I lost my bottle.
Dad’ll never let me, I thought.
Then, one night a year later,
in May 2016, I had a surge of
courage and fired off a message
to Bounty Hunter Bootcamp.
I got a reply from Scott
Gribble, who ran the camp.
He talked me through what I’d
have to do to qualify. I’d have to
learn to use weapons, including
