BSA METEOR MKII REFURB

a full-bore gunsmith mate to paint it for me,
but rather than just telling me he didn’t want to
do it, it sat in his workshop for a year – yes, 12
months! This little project was turning into a
labour of love all right.

THE PREP’ BEGINS ...
During those 12 months, I sourced a new main
spring, barrel seal and piston ‘O’ ring from

The MKII as it arrived at my door.

The stock screws were chewed up.

D. THAIN has a lot to answer for ...

In bits - now to see what the damage really was. Hammer marks were everywhere.

The front sight was also intact. The trigger was okay.

One good thing was that the rear sight was okay.

International – go-to firms for both the amateur
and professional airgunsmith. One pleasing thing
was that the rear sight on the MKII was working
and intact; the simple steel element sat in a
dovetail, machined into the top of the breech on
the barrel and it was undamaged along with the
threaded elevation wheel underneath it. It cost
me a total of £63 for the spare parts. So, there

was a lot to do and I had wasted a year so far,
waiting for the repainting of the action. Tune in
next month to see how the fettling happens!
