Donald Trump has faced
severe criticism from Democrat
rivals after a mass shooting in
Texas by a suspected white
nationalist
that claimed at least 20 lives.
Presidential contender Beto
O’Rourke, who represented the
district where the attack took
place, said the president bore
some responsibility for the
killing. “He is a racist and he
stokes racism in this
country,” he said. “It
fundamentally changes the
character of this country and it
leads to violence.” The atrocity
in El Paso was followed by a
second mass shooting in Dayton,
Ohio, which claimed a further
nine lives. A 21-year-old, named
as Patrick Crusius, has been
charged with domestic terrorism
over the Texas shooting.
