CREATEA NEWIMAGELAYERAt thisstageyou
havea baseimagewithincreasedcontrast
onwhichtousetheDodgeandBurnToolsfor
moreprecise,detailedadjustments.Startby
creatinga newimagelayerbyselectingallthe
layersin theLayerspalettewhileholdingthe
Shiftkey.Thenpress,Cmd,alt,ShiftandE to
merge the layers to a new image layer.7
USETHEDODGETOOLUsetheDodgeTool
withtheRangesettoMidtonesandthe
Opacitylowerthan25%toworkonareasyou
wanttobrighten.AdjusttheSizeandOpacity
tosuitthearea,butkeeptheHardness at 0%.
Try to build up the effect slowly and softly,
painting over areas where the light naturally
falls to enhance its existing highlights.8
USETHEBURNTOOLBy working on a new
image layer you’re not altering the original
pixels and you can add a Layer Mask to ‘undo’
any mistakes or reduce the strength of your
edits. Create a new image layer, as in step 6,
and use the same method explained in step
7 but using the Burn Tool to work over areas
