What we think: Backlighting looks fantastic

in most types of images, from portraits to

landscapes, and Sheri’s shot certainly benefits

from the warm haziness of the light. The

minimal composition works well with the

shallow depth-of-field and differential focus

to create depth, but it would be even stronger

if the point of focus was in a more prominent

part of the frame rather than the edge. Had

Sheri angled herself so that the sun was more

out of frame, perhaps backlighting from the

side, she would have been able to improve

the clarity and colour but, overall, it's a good

image and she's handled well the exposure of

what'snotoriouslytricky lighting.
