Amman route from 16Jul19, with B737-800 and launched an Addis
Ababa – Madrid – Dublin route on 05 Jun19 with B787-8, soon to be
replaced by the B787-9.
Ethiopian Airlines has taken delivery of its first A350-900 from
ICBC Aviation Leasing (China).

Ethiopian Mozambique Airways [Mozambique] will open a base at
Beira.

Etihad [EY/ETD] [UAE] launched seasonal summer flights from Abu
Dhabi to Alexandria on 02Jul19, using the A320.
Etihad, along with the Hinduja Group (India), has joined hands with
AdiGro Aviation (UK) and Jet Airways founder Naresh Goyal to revive
the Indian airline.

Eurowings [EW/EWG] [Germany] aims to be profitable by 2021, says
Group CFO Ulrick Svensson, who added that Condor (Germany) is
unlikely to be acquired by the Group.
Eurowings is phasing out its oldest nine A320s during 2019, and
will start returning wet leased DHC8s, with all turboprops on wet lease
exiting by early 2021 as four A320neos are phased in 2021 and 16 in
2022.
Eurowings is operating additional routes to Turkey, mainly from
Cologne and Hamburg, with germanwings A319s or A320s. The routes
began in late May 2019 and include Ankara, Kayseri, Kutahya, and
Adana.
The carrier will launch Cologne – Arvidsjaur services with an A320
from 17Jan20, operating on a seasonal basis.

EVA Air [BR/EVA] [Taiwan] now expects revenue losses of US$34.3
million from its ongoing cabin crew strike.
EVA Air is still seeking overflight permits for direct services from
Taipei to Europe via China, but has yet to hear back from China.
The carrier placed its first B787-10, serial 63510, on lease from Air
Lease (US) on the Taipei – Hong Kong route from 28Jun19. The carrier
will take delivery of three more B787s by end of 2019, and will
complete its Dreamliner deliveries by 2022.

Far Eastern Air Transport [FE/FEA] [Taiwan] will start phasing out
its four MD80s later in 2019 due to public sentiment and potential
flight safety issues. They will be replaced by new ATRs between August
and the end of the year.

Fastjet [South Africa] announced that US$1.2 million would be repaid
to SSCG Africa Holdings by 30Jun19 and Annunaki Investments will
refund US$19,000 to fastjet Zimbabwe. It has been agreed with
Annunaki and SSCG that $0.75 million of the Unsecured Loans will be
extended to 31Jan20.
Fastjet reports 2018 revenue up 167% to US$38.5 million and loss
after tax of $65 million, with year end cash balance of $6.6 million. A
near break-even Group operating result is expected in 1Q19.

The carrier has awarded long term ground handling contract at
Luton to John Menzies Plc.
Easyjet is operate weekly Naples & Milan to Marsa Alam services.


EgyptAir [MS/MSR] [Egypt] resumed services from Cairo to Abijan,
via Accra, on 20Jun19 with B737-800.
EgyptAir and Ukraine International Airlines have launched a new
codeshare partnership, connecting Cairo and Kiev.
EgyptAir Cargo is preparing to take redelivery of a third A330-
200P2F, serial 610, from EFW (Germany) in 3Q19. Four additional
A330s will also be converted, and possibly a fifth.
EgyptAir Cargo has signed an agreement with Air Serbia to provide
cargo services on the airline’s new flights between Belgrade and Cairo.
EgyptAir is mulling further growth in North America, with potential
service to Chicago.
EgyptAir has removed its planned B787-9 service for Cairo – Tokyo
Narita route, previously scheduled from 03Jul19, leaving the B777-
300ER service in place.


El Al Israel Airlines [LY/ELY] [Israel] will inaugurate a thrice weekly
Tel-Aviv-Tokyo/Narita scheduled service from March 2020, using
Boeing 787-9 equipment.


Emirates [EK/UAE] [UAE] president Tim Clark says the B737 MAX will
is not likely to be back in the skies before the end of 2019 because of
a fall-out in cooperation between the FAA and other national
regulators.
The carrier is to extend the leases of B777-300ERs due to the delay
in the initial EIS of the B777-9s on order, which are replacing the older
aircraft.
Emirates’ first scheduled A380 services have just touched down in
Boston and Amman for the summer 2019 season peak.
The carrier has reportedly selected the A330neo and A350 for its
future fleet, letting the B787-10 tentative agreement lapse.
Emirates is in negotiations with Boeing that could substantially
defer part of its massive order for 150 B777X jets and perhaps replace
some with B787s.
Emirates will add an extra 46 flights to Mecca for Hajj between
27Jul19 and 22Aug19.


Ethiopian Airlines [ET/ETH] [Ethiopia] and the government of Ghana
have firmed their strategic partnership agreement to set up a new
national carrier in Accra.
Ethiopian Airlines chief executive Tewolde Gebremariam says
Boeing and regulators are “doing the right thing” as they seek to end
the grounding of the B737 MAX, and “we now have confidence in the
process”.
The carrier has delayed its planned Addis Ababa – Lome – Houston
service to 14Dec19, to be operated with B787-8.
Ethiopian Airlines Group will launch its Addis Ababa – Garowe
service, via Bossaso, effective 15Jul19. It also plans an Addis Ababa –
