further 28 A320neo family aircraft with an undisclosed airline. The
order includes engine maintenance through a long-term EngineWise
Comprehensive service agreement.
Pratt & Whitney have announced an investment of up to US$45
million in its existing West Palm Beach facility to further expand the
facility’s footprint to meet the growing MRO capacity needs for the GTF
engine family. The total investment expected to be completed by end
of 2020.
The company announced that Azul (Brazil) signed a 12-year
EngineWise Comprehensive service agreement for engine maintenance
for the airline’s fleet of 51 E190/E195-E2 aircraft, which are powered
by PW1900G engines.

Rolls-Royce (UK) and Singapore Airlines have agreed a co-innovation
agreement that builds on the existing relationship between the two
firms to identify untapped opportunities to enhance flight efficiency,
safety and aircraft availability through digital applications and
services.
Rolls-Royce has entered into an agreement to acquire the electric
and hybrid-electric aerospace propulsion activities of Siemens
(Germany). The acquisition is expected to be completed in late 2019.
Rolls-Royce is expanding its global service network with a new
independent Authorized Maintenance Centre in Abu Dhabi operated by
Sanad Aerotech (UAE) which will provide complete Trent 700 overhaul
services for global operators.
Rolls-Royce is looking for engine maintenance capacity and repair
capability, ahead of the first Trent 1000 and XWB refurbishments in a
couple of years.
Rolls-Royce’s Trent 7000 engine will power 16 new A330neos for
Cebu Pacific (Philippines). In addition, the engine manufacturer will
also provide the airline with its TotalCare long-term aftercare service.

SMBC Aviation Capital (Ireland) has announced it has ordered 40
LEAP-1A engines to power 20 additional A320neos. The engine order
is valued at US$588 million at list price.
SMBC Aviation Capital delivered one B787-9, serial 43983,
equipped with Trent 1000 engines to Avianca (Colombia), the first of
three -9s via sale/leaseback PDP financed transactions. The second
and third aircraft are expected to deliver in 2021.
SMBC Aviation Capital has selected P&W GTF engines to power an
additional 20 A320neo family aircraft with options, bringing the
leasing company’s total to 50 firm GTF-powered A320neo family
aircraft.
SMBC Aviation Capital reports profit before tax up 8% year-on-year
to US$344 million, with a record $1.1 billion of overall income from
continuing operations. Total aircraft assets stood at $11.9 billion, as 47
aircraft from its order book were placed.

United Aircraft (Russia) has confirmed 200 “soft” orders of the CR929
as says work on aircraft progresses.
The manufacturer has filed a law suit in the Moscow Arbitration
Court against Antonov (Ukraine), aimed at the elimination of a joint
venture UAC-Antonov.
United Aircraft’s net loss for 2018 increased more than seven times
year-on-year to US$287 million, as revenues fell 9.7% to $6.3 billion.
The company plans to deliver 15 SSJ100s in 2019, despite the
recent incident at Moscow’s Sheremetyevo airport. It is planning to
start supplying SSJ100s to Kom Airlines (Thailand) at the end of 2019.

Embraer has signed a contract with United Airlines (US) for up to
39 E175s – 20 firm aircraft and 19 options in a 70-seat configuration.
The order has a value of US$1.9 billion. Deliveries are expected to
begin in 2Q20. The aircraft will replace older 70-seat aircraft currently
operated by United’s regional partners.
Embraer has signed a long-term Flight Hour Pool Program
agreement with Azul (Brazil) to provide repairable component support
for the carrier’s brand new fleet of E195-E2 jets.


GECAS (US) and Colorful Guizhou Airlines (China) have agreed to a
lease agreement for four A320neos from the lessor’s orderbook, with
deliveries beginning in late 2019 and continuing into 2020. The carrier
plans to grow its fleet to 25 aircraft by 2025.
GECAS and David Neeleman’s new airline, codenamed ‘Moxy’, have
agreed to an LOI for the purchase and leaseback of nine A220-300s
with deliveries scheduled in 2021 and 2022. Plane View Partners (US)
acted on behalf of the airline for the transaction.
GECAS has signed an agreement with Boeing exercising 10
purchase rights to firm orders and adding 15 more purchase rights for
the B737-800 BCF.


Goshawk (Ireland) has announced the sale of a portfolio of 18 aircraft
to Pioneer Aircraft Finance (Ireland) and Pioneer Aircraft Finance (US),
a newly formed ABS entity. The portfolio comprises of 16× narrowbody,
1× widebody and 1× regional aircraft.


Mitsubishi Aircraft (Japan) and a prospective North American
customer have entered into a MOU to commence formal negotiations
for 15 M100 aircraft, with deliveries beginning in 2024.
Mitsubishi Aircraft (Japan) has officially announced its Mitsubishi
SpaceJet family of aircraft, including the SpaceJet M90 and a new
member, the M100 – a 65-76 passenger jet. The M90 will start to deliver
in 2020. It intends to release its 70-seater-class SpaceJet M100 plane,
the second in the SpaceJet range, in 2023 – it has changed the name
of the MRJ to “Space Jet”, as it looks to shed any negative images due
to repeated delays. The company says the M90 remains its priority
after media reports said the company was shifting focus to the smaller
M70.
Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Bombardier have entered into a
definitive agreement, whereby MHI acquires Bombardier’s CRJ
program for a cash consideration of US$550 million, payable to
Bombardier upon closing, and the assumption by MHI of liabilities
amounting to approximately $200 million.


Nordic Aviation Capital (Denmark) and ATR have signed a LOI for 35
firm ATR -600s, with options for a further 35 and purchase rights for
another 35. Deliveries of the initial 35 aircraft will begin in 2020 and
run up to 2025.
Nordic Aviation Capital has confirmed its agreement to lease nine
new ATR72-600s to TAROM (Romania). The first of the nine is
anticipated for delivery in October 2019, with all deliveries excepted
to be completed by 2020.
Recent Nordic Aviation Capital deliveries include: one ATR72-600,
serial 1450, to Far Eastern Air Transport (Taiwan) ; one new ATR72-600,
serial 1534, to Air KBZ (Myanmar); and one new ATR72-600, serial 1540,
to Air KBZ (Myanmar), all on lease.
Nordic Aviation Capital has penned an MOU with Airbus for 20 A220
Family aircraft.


Pratt & Whitney (US) and Middle East Airlines (Lebanon) have
announced the selection of the GTF engine to power four A321XLR
aircraft. P&W will also provide MEA with engine maintenance through
a long-term EngineWise service agreement as part of the original 2018
order.
JetSMART (Chile) has also selected the GTF engine to power its 85
firm order Airbus A320neo family aircraft. Pratt will also provide
JetSMART with GTF engine maintenance through a 12-year EngineWise
Comprehensive service agreement. The first aircraft is expected to be
delivered in 3Q19.
VivaAerobus (Mexico) has selected the GTF engine to power its firm
order of 41 A321neos. P&W will also provide VivaAerobus with engine
maintenance through a new 12-year EngineWise Comprehensive
service agreement.
Further customers for the GTF engine are two airlines and a lessor
to power a total of 74 A320neo family aircraft orders in China, and a
