Mr. Top Gun
Th is year’s winner of the coveted Mr. Top Gun title is no stranger to the winner’s podium: Peter Goldsmith won
the title in 2016 with his impressive F-104 Starfi ghter. Th is year, Peter competed in the Expert class with his
BAE Hawk 100 built from the Tomahawk Aviation composite kit. Th e static judges awarded his Hawk 99.
points, which also earned Peter the highest in the Expert class. Peter’s overall score was an impressive
196.1 points. His all-composite BAE Hawk 100 has a wingspan of 112.2 inches and is 145.67 inches long. It is
powered by a KingTech 210 turbine engine and controlled using a Spektrum DX20 with a Spektrum PowerSafe
receiver and 6300 Spektrum servos. Th e Hawk 100 weighs 48.2 pounds and is painted in the color scheme of
Hawk Mk 127 of the No. 76 Squadron, Royal Australian Air Force.
