2nd//Curtis Switzer//Stearman
Built from a 1/3-scale Balsa USA kit, the Stearman has a
116-inch wingspan and weighs 50 pounds. Powered by a Desert
Aircraft DA-150 turning a Falcon 29x13 prop, the biplane is
equipped with a smoke system and
Jeti radio gear. Curtis earned a fi nal
score of 121.500 points.
PRO-AM PROP CLASS
Pilots in this class must have already placed (twice!) in the
top three spots of an AMA competition or in the top 30
percent of a Top Gun field. Each pilot is awarded 25 static
points for showing scale documentation; this is added to
the average of the best three (out of four) flight rounds for
the total score. This year, there were 14 pilots entered in
the class.

Based on a Top Flite giant-scale ARF, this Japanese World
War II fi ghter is 1/5 scale and has an 86-inch span. Powered
by a DLE 61cc gas engine spinning a Xoar 21x10 prop, the

wingspan and is 98 inches long. Powered by a 7-cylinder Evo
260cc gas engine turning a 34x16 3-blade prop, the La-7
weighs 50 pounds. Using a Futaba 18SZ radio, Chad earned a
fi nal score of 120.300 points.
