The area also has two more hiking trails with
varying degrees of difficulty, which are bound
to reward you with breathtaking panoramic
views. For those who have the stamina and
the necessary fitness level to try it, the Vintgar
Gorge, a deep ravine ending in a waterfall, is 4
km away from the lake - about 2 hours of hiking.
Another interesting walk for passionate hikers
is the medieval castle of Bled. Completing 1,000
years of existence, this is the oldest castle in
Slovenia. It is said that the Romans called this
place “paradise” and that is no surprise, since
when you get up there, the beauty of the lake and
the splendour of nature compose a magnificent
spectacle.
In the summer months, swimming in the pristine,
turquoise, warm waters is a must, as is the
exploration of the lake in rented kayaks. But
there is more than the lake. The Straźa Ski Slope,
which operates as a ski resort in winter, features
an automatic sledding track in the summer that
climbs up and down on special routes offering
moments of great fun for children and adults alike.
Since every travel destination is combined
with a culinary surprise, do not miss Bled’s
trademark cake, the famous Kremšnita Cake, a
superdelicious cake with rum and lemon.
As far as accommodation is concerned, nature
lovers can enjoy a unique experience of glamping
in deluxe tents or huts in nature, with outdoor
jacuzzi and all the amenities of a 5-star hotel.
As mundane as it may sound, do not miss the
sunset. Eyewitnesses speak of a spectacle-
sunset against the background of the imposing
mountains and the castle that will simply
mesmerise you. This is definitely something
worth discovering for yourself.
