an Walmart’s food, beauty and household private

labels, like Great Value and Equate, are so popular,
84% of us purchase them. And to compete with
Amazon’s new private-label apparel, Walmart
just expanded its lines to include clothing, such
as Time and Tru women’s label and Terra & Sky
plus sizes. They cost less than name brands, plus
Walmart is applying the same high quality stan-
dards to their clothes that they do to their other
private labels—and they’ve recruited specialists to
help. For example, Olympic gold–winning swim-
mer Nathan Adrian helps select swimwear.

Surprise! The clearance section isn’t the only
place you’ll find bottom-dollar deals. For
example, if you’re searching for electronics on
clearance, ask an employee to check inside cabi-
nets or glass cases in the electronics department,
since they may be stored away due to lack of shelf
space, says James. “Items I’ve persona lly seen
at a big discount in these ‘secret’ spots include
Samsung tablets, GPS units, high-end exter-
nal hard drives and Bluetooth speakers. After
some quick research on my smartphone, many
of their prices were below those of Amazon and
Best Buy.” To f ind more low-priced treasures,
“keep your eyes peeled for yellow clearance price
tags throughout the store,” advises Morgan.
“Sometimes, you find clearance items mixed in
with the regularly priced items.” And if you’re
not looking for them, you might miss them!

You can save up to 5% instantly simply by buying
items online, then picking them up at Walmart
instead of having them delivered. “Wa lmart has
figured out that it costs more to mail items to
your doorstep than it does to ship merchandise
to their physica l store,” says Kyle James, founder
of Rather-Be-Shopping.com. “Because of this,
they started offering a pickup discount for those
willing to grab their purchases in person.” For
a list of thousands of qualifying products, visit
Walmart.com and search “pickup discount.”

The retail giant is known for its low
prices—and you can cut costs even
more with these easy insider tricks

While Walmart recently discontinued its Savings
Catcher program, which gave you cash back if
a competitor offered a product at a lower price
than you paid, you can still get cash back by using
free rebate apps like Ibotta and Checkout51, says
Collin Morgan of Hip2Save.com. Just download,
select cash-back offers and upload a photo of your
receipt. Once you accrue a certain amount, your
money is sent via PayPa l or check. Morgan’s secret
for the biggest savings? “Use more than one app
and pair your cash-back offers with coupons!”
