What better way to show some love for your
furr y friend than by whipping up a specia l
treat for him? We asked Cheryl Gianfrancesco,
author of Doggy Desserts, for an easy recipe that
will help him stay cool, and she shared this
fruit y sorbet your pa l is sure to devour!

To make Watermelon Dog Sherbet:
Blend 2 cups of seedless watermelon chunks,
3 cups of water and 1 Tbs. of lemon juice until
smooth. Pour into a plastic container; freeze.
Come treat time, let soften on the counter, then
scoop some out for your pal! Makes 5 cups.

SATURDAY, AUGUST 10 NATIONAL SPOIL YOUR DOG DAY

Give your tootsies some TLC with this DIY scrub created by the
Woman’s World beauty team. To make : Stir^1 ⁄^4 cup of sugar,^1 ⁄^3 cup of
olive oil, 2 Tbs. of lime juice and 5 drops of peppermint essential oil in a
small dish. Rub on each foot for two minutes; rinse. Peppermint’s cool-
ing menthol will invigorate tired feet and constrict blood vessels to end
puffiness, and the lime juice and sugar crystals will remove dead skin
cells so the oil’s nourishing oleic acid can hydrate. Aah...that’s better!

Treat your feet!

Your favorite homemade or store-bought chocolate chip cook ies get
even tastier when you use them to make ice-cream sandwiches! The
Woman’s World test kitchen secret to picture-perfect treats? Spread
2 pints of softened vanilla ice cream on a wax paper–lined baking
sheet. (Optional: stir peanut butter, chopped nuts or candy into the
ice cream.) Freeze for 2 hours. Use a round cookie cutter to cut
the ice cream into discs. (Put leftover ice cream back in the container
and freeze.) Place one disc between two cookies, roll sides of sand-
wiches in chocolate chips. Freeze until ready to serve. Makes 12.

JOKE^ OF^ THE^ WEEK

Nun of your business
In a Catholic school cafeteria, a nun places a note in front of a
pile of apples that says, Only take one. God is watching. Farther
down the line is a pile of cookies. A little boy makes his own note
that says, Take all you want. God is watching the apples.
