I was at the store checkout when I
overheard an older woman ask-
ing the cashier for directions to
a flower shop. I noticed she seemed
confused after the girl gave her directions. I
had once gotten lost in an unfamiliar town,
and a woman offered to help me by driving
to my destination and letting me follow.
I saw my chance to return the favor. The
shop was on my way home, so I offered to
lead her to it. The woman
was thrilled. I was so happy
to be able to repay the kind-
ness shown to me!

I was vacuuming out
my car at the car wash
when I noticed a college-
aged woman parked next to me.
We exchanged smiles, then she said,
“I have an odd question. Do you need
potting soil?” Holding up a large bag of
soil, she explained she’d just finished a
class project. “I have no more use for the
soil, and I don’t want to throw it away.” I
gladly took the soil, and we chatted for a
few minutes. Then we both pulled away.

My husband and I
went out to lunch, and
as we approached the
restaurant, a man opened the door
for us. My husband laughed and jokingly
said, “Are you going to buy our lunch too?”
The man chuckled and said, “I might just
do that!” Well, later, when we asked the
waitress for our bill, she said that a man had
paid it. I asked how much it was and she said
about $20. My husband handed her a $20
bill and said, “Here is your tip!” She was
so grateful. With all of the discord in the
world, this was a pleasant surprise!
