There, on returning to his hut, the Lord was
ready to manifest another divine play. He pretended
to be exhausted after dancing; and, so, he laid down
at the threshold of the door itself, blocking the
passage to move inside the room. He knew his
disciple Govinda, who massaged his legs and feet
after such celebrations, was coming to serve him. In
a few minutes, Govinda came running thinking that
the Master must have reached his hut. Alas! When
he found Mahaprabhu lying down at the threshold
of the door itself, shivers ran down his spine
thinking how terribly the Lord must be tired that he
could not even move inside. He bent and slowly said
to Mahaprabhu, “O Lord, kindly move inside! I will
quickly apply oil on your feet and all the pain will
vanish!” Mahaprabhu did not answer. Govinda said
a bit loudly, “Dear Master, please get inside. I know
you are extremely tired.” Without opening his eyes,
Mahaprabhu said hesitatingly, “I cannot move at all.
I am very tired. You do whatever you want to do here
only.”
Govinda requested the Lord, “Master, the oil is
inside. Please move a little bit, so that I can rush
inside and get the oil.”
Mahaprabhu made his tone even more stern, “I
told you I am very-very tired today. I have no
strength to move even a bit.”
The situation was getting complex and difficult
for Govinda because, on one hand he could not bear
the sight of his Lord in pain; and, on the other, he
was helpless for not being able to fetch the
essentials from the room to carry out his service.
Moreover, that oil and other accessories weren't
there with anybody else that he could have
managed to arrange.
Poor Govinda! He could not understand what to
do. Simultaneously, he feared that if he would again
request the Lord to give him a “little bit” of space, he
would receive a good scolding! But, seeing no otherEvery group was thinking that they were supremely
fortunate to have Mahaprabhu with them all the
time. However, they were also feeling that the other
groups must be sad for not getting the chance to
behold the Divine Master! When a person from one
group met the devotee from the other group, he said,
“Today, it was indeed a blissful day! It's true that
when there are devotees in such big numbers, then
it is difficult for everyone to behold the Master! Of
course, we all know that even if some could not get
the chance to behold Mahaprabhu from outside, but,
from inside, our Lord has blessed one and all! That
too, equally! Infinitely! This devotee had hardly
finished with the preface before expressing his real
delight of having Mahaprabhu with their group
throughout, the other one in turn began to console
him- “O yes! You are right, brother! But, don't worry
or become sad if Mahaprabhu did not visit your side.
He certainly resides permanently in our hearts; from
there he cannot disappear even for a second.
Moreover, you were standing in the extreme left,
isn't it?” Then, hesitating to express his joy fully,
thinking that his brother would feel sad, he tried to
dilute his expression of joy and said in a
manipulating tone, “Mahaprabhu did come to our
side; but didn't stay for long. We could hardly get the
chance to see him for a few seconds!” The first one
now just could not stop himself from expressing his
delight! He said, “In fact, space was not at all the
constraint on our side! Although, I know I do not
deserve so much, but my fortune was perhaps bright
today that the Lord spent a good amount of time
with our group.” He also tried to control his
expression, avoiding to say that Mahaprabhu was
with them not for a good amount of time; rather, all
the time!
Ah! Divine are the ways of the Divine Master to
shower his divine grace upon his dear devotees!
Everyone was happy to their heart's content; yet,
everyone was concerned for the other's pain as
