The right method
Your best colleges issue was very informative. De-
veloping entrepreneurship skills among students is
the right way to do it, and will help students in the
job arena (‘Getting real’, June 16). It is good to know
that many arts and science colleges in the country
are helping students through trips that sensitise them
to real life problems. People from rural areas should
join important colleges in the country. They need the
exposure that will take them to greater heights. As
they say, the real India lives in its villages. So, let us
introduce them to the world with full force.

As a reader of your maga-
zine for many years, I felt
the best colleges issue was
out of place. Today, young
people and parents make
their own choices, taking
into consideration different
factors. I don’t think they

who are looking for some

Thanks a lot for pub-
lishing the elaborate,
category-wise system-
atic survey of colleges of
various disciplines. But, I
was wondering how you
missed the prestigious and
oldest Indian Institute of
Technology Kharagpur. In
fact, it does not appear in
any of the categories you
have published. Being an
alumnus of IIT Kharagpur,
this has hurt me.
Mohan Rao,
Bengaluru.

IIT Kharagpur did not
participate in the survey.

Over to Modi
Narendra Modi knows well
that he has to rise up to the
expectations of the coun-
trymen who gave him a
mammoth mandate to rule
the nation for the next five
years (‘The brass-knuckle
band’, June 16). The likes
of S. Jaishankar, Nirmala
Sitharaman and Amit Shah
are expected to bring a lot
to the table. With crucial
ministries like home,
finance, defence and exter-

nal taken care of by these
stalwarts, Modi will now get
the required impetus to not
only bring positive trans-
formation in the lives of
the people, but also further
improve India’s standing in
the world.
Vijai Pant,
On email.

Modi has given one of the
most important seats of
power on Raisina Hill, the
home ministry, to Shah,
shifting senior leader Ra-
jnath Singh to the relatively
undemanding defence
ministry. Shah, with ‘home’,
will be at home.
Shah knows exactly what
the BJP and RSS want from
him: Ram Mandir, Article
370 and 35A to be thrown
out of the window, and a
national citizenship register
for every state in the Union,
not just Assam.
K.S. Jayatheertha,

Roping in former foreign
secretary S. Jaishankar in
the cabinet and giving him
the portfolio of external
affairs was a praiseworthy
effort.
Jaishankar is known for
his diplomatic skills which
helped India in improving
ties with China and the US.
