Tim also added a cautionary note, pointing
out that the growing interest in social media,
the propensity for groups to share copies and
a reluctance to pay for quality writing and
production are all affecting the magazine. “We
live in difficult times for print publications,” he
said. “I would urge anyone who shares a copy
or who reads a copy belonging to their region
to consider seriously taking out their own
subscription. Otherwise, it will be a challenge
to achieve another 100 issues of Jane Austen’s
Regency World magazine.”
He added: “Once more, I thank you our
loyal readers worldwide – and welcome the
prospect of your company on the way to
No 200.”

We’ve reached 100, thanks to you


This issue is the 100th edition of Jane Austen’s
Regency World, a magazine founded by the
Jane Austen Centre, Bath, and taken on by
Lansdown Media Ltd in 2008. To reach
this landmark in an era of declining print
readership is a remarkable achievement, and
the result of dedication and hard work by a
small team of people.
Tim Bullamore (pictured), editor and
publisher of JARW, said: “There have been
many talented contributors over the years,
too many to name individually. However, I
would especially like to acknowledge those
stalwarts of our team whose names do not
appear regularly in print: Alison Bentley
(advertising), Anna Patience (design), Dawn
Gorman (proof reading) and Nigel Starck
(associate editor). Our printers, Blackmore
in Dorset, and our distributors, AllSorts, also
provide invaluable support.

regular spotlight on Jane Austen, through
the 200th anniversaries of the publication
of her novels, the 200th anniversary of her
