Director for Sanditon staging
Angie Diggens
of Wivenhoe,
Colchester has been
appointed director
for the first outing
of Chris Brindle’s
new musical – 200
Years Later.
The musical
is based on Jane
Austen’s Sanditon to
be performed at the
Studio of The Other
Palace in Victoria, London on July 26.
Angie first came to fame as a finalist on
ITV ’s Stars In Their Eyes and currently tours
with the Classical Singing trio Bel Canto.
Brindle said: “It has been a fascinating
process, finding the best of actor/musician
talent to play the Parker siblings, Lady
Denham, and the West Indian heiress Miss
Lambe”.

Persuasion musical returns
After sellout
performances last year
at the Jane Austen
festivals in Bath and
British Columbia,
Chamber Opera Tours
is returning to the UK
this summer with their
original musical adaptation of Jane Austen’s
Persuasion.
They will perform at the New Theatre
Royal in Portsmouth on Wednesday, July 31,
make their first appearance in Wales at the
New Theatre, Cardiff, on Saturday, August 3,
and back by popular demand to the Paignton
Palace Theatre on Wednesday, August 7.
This widely-acclaimed stage production
features songs from Jane Austen’s
manuscripts and music of the era and is
performed by chamber orchestra with Celtic
and period instruments using beautiful
Regency costumes, projected scenery and
world-champion Irish dancers. Further
