NHRA RULES
Before an engine and car combo is approved, it must
be run through the NHRA first. There are rules to the
stock classes, like a 3,575-pound weight minimum,
and traction must be achieved by an itty-bitty (by
today’s standards) 30x9-inch Mickey Thompson slick.
Still, these cars are able to cut 1.17 60-foot times and
run 7.80s in the quarter-mile, so hold on, 2019 is going
to be a wild year!

FUEL SYSTEM
Eschewing the popular trend, the COPO engine
doesn’t run on E85—just traditional VP Racing
C16 race gas. This means 80-lb/hr injectors
were all that were installed, along with an
Aeromotive A1000 Eliminator pump at 58 psi
feeding –8AN lines.

CYLINDER HEADS
LS cylinder heads are known for flowing a lot of
air, and the heads on the COPO 350 are no
exception. Reported to flow close to 400 cfm
on the intake, the heads have a 289cc intake
runner, 105cc exhaust, and a 70cc chamber. The
valves are also quite trick, as the intake houses
mammoth 2.20-inch Del West titanium valves,
while the exhaust features lightweight sodium-
filled 1.61-inch valves.
