this site from the CBG|Center in The Hague has
expanded beyond its origins in civil-registration
records. A premium membership (about $23 a

Got ancestors going back to the Mayfl ower? This
site from the New England Historic Genealogi-
cal Society has a new database of a half-million
passengers and their descendants, but that’s
just one of the more than 450 collections here,
totaling over 1.4 billion names. Full access costs
$94.95 a year.
Civil War Soldiers and Sailors Database

Note the new URL for this essential start-
ing point for researching Union or Confeder-
ate ancestors, with 6.3 million servicemen
from both sides, representing 44 states and
territories.

sion with free reports on ethnicity, shared seg-
