Along Came Polly (2004)
COMEDY CENTRAL, 9.00PM ★★★

 A timid risk analyst (Ben Stiller)
and a flighty bohemian (the likeable
Jennifer Aniston) hit it off in this
inconsistent comedy, which never
seems to make up its mind whether
it wants to be family friendly or
sniggeringly crude. The film was a
box-office success, no doubt due to its
cast – a fresh-from-Friends Aniston’s
mix of zany energy and comic timing
is the best thing here.

Anna and the King (1999)
FILM4, 11.00AM ★★

 A straight, dramatic version of the
story of the romance between the King
of Siam (played by action star Chow
Yun-Fat) and the widowed British
governess Anna Leonowens (Jodie
Foster) in the 1860s. This is exotic,
escapist, old-fashioned matinee
entertainment. There are no musical
interludes, but some beautiful
cinematography, though the film’s
length may bore some to tears.

Tootsie (1982)
TCM, 2.40PM ★★★★

When actor Michael Dorsey (Dustin
Hoffman) transforms himself into one
“Dorothy Michaels” in a desperate
attempt to get work, problems arise:
he falls for a female friend (Jessica
Lange), just as her father (Charles
Durning) falls for him. Although it’s
hard to believe that Hoffman in drag
