The R-10 TH’s regulator is more efficient,
though, and combines with the rifle’s main
valve to produce over 280 perfect shots at
11-plus ft.lbs. in .177, and over 340 in .22,
from its 232 bar charge. Using my precious
weighed .177 Air Arms Diabolo Field pellets,
the first 50-shot string I sacrificed over the
chrono returned an average variation of just
11 feet per second. A second, equally
tedious, 50 pellets’ worth of speed-testing
clocked an average of 9 f.p.s., after which I
eye and shoulder, with the ideal set-up of the
R-10’s cheekpiece and butt pad, but I got there
in the end ... well, almost. Even after hours of
varying these gunfit options, tiny alterations
need to be made, so the rifle is perfectly fitting
me, rather than me adjusting to it.
Such adjustability and assistance is a huge
factor in turning any rifle’s potential into
real-world performance, and as I’ve said to
everyone I can back into a corner, making our
guns fit us better is the greatest advancement
available to us, these days.
gave up on the chrono. I’ll revisit it in next
month’s follow-up test, but I had more
important things to be getting on with, like
adjusting the rifle’s stock.
STOCK ANSWERS
This woodwork, produced by Minelli in Italy, is
ambidextrous, although like all properly
designed ambi’ stocks, you’d never notice any
compromise to accommodate southpaws. As

relationship between my face, head, sighting
