http://www.airgunshooting.co.uk AIRGUN WORLD 3W
e seem to have gone BSA
bonkers this month,
although, as ever, things weren’t
planned that way. I’ve been keen
to test the latest incarnation of
BSA’s R-10 rifle since its
appearance at the British Shooting
Show back in February, and this
was the issue it landed on. Then,
Ivan at C & H Weston called me in
a state of excitement, to announce
that he’d despatched ‘something
pretty special’ for me to have a
look at. This turned out to be the
limited edition BSA R-10 SE
commissioned to celebrate
Weston’s 200-year anniversary,
and you’ll find it on pages 27 and
28, plus, I’m delighted to say, on
our competition page.LOOKING GOOD
As soon as I saw Ivan’s rifle I knew
we had to have one for our
competition. Buying it – yes, we buy
our prize rifles, they’re not donated- would send our lovely Airgun
World bean counters into orbit, so I
arranged to make this combo a
two-month special, to recoup the
investment and to give our readers
the chance to own something truly
special. Trust me, you have to see
this outfit to appreciate it, and it’s
been admired by everyone I’ve
shown it to. You absolutely can’t
miss this month’s competition.
BEEZA BACK IN TIME
With two major BSA’s already in
the Summer issue contents list, I
then received, bright and early as
it always is, John Milewski’s
contribution. John’s piece featured
a fascinating study of a 1930s
target competition, and that, too,
turned out to be distinctly ‘BSA
heavy’. Now add Tim Finley’s
restoration of his own BSA Meteor,
and fans of the grand old airgun
company from Brum have been
royally catered for this month.FINALLY SORTED
Meanwhile, thank goodness the
mess surrounding the withdrawal
and replacement of the General
Licences has at last been sorted.I’m sure there will be a few minor
hurdles yet to overcome, but
essentially we’re ‘as you were’,
albeit with the odd proviso. Please
make sure you familiarise yourself
with the details, and you can find
out more at: https://www.gov.uk/
government/collections/bird-
licences and on page 13 of this
issue.AND FINALLY ....
Thanks yet again to all those who
send emails and letters, plus the
readers I speak to on the phone
and at shows, for your continuing
input and constructive
suggestions. I’ve said it before but
it bears repeating; we really do
listen to every opinion, praise and
criticism, so please keep them
coming. It sounds like some hoary
old cliché, but we really couldn’t
do it without you.
