REDFERN MOTOR PARTS

items which is a win/win situation. Five hundred
or so bidders from across every state in Australia
and further afield from 17 countries participated.
As Jack built his business in the ’50s and ’60s
he collected an array of bikes and parts from
organisations such as Jim Eade, Sid Huntington,
Bennet and Wood, as well as the NRMA and their
fleet of 750 Servicars, the Police Department, and
their fleet of 1200 Flatheads, and last but not least,
the Army’s collection of 750 WLAs.
The 1300-plus lots on offer was a treasure trove
of vintage H-D parts we are unlikely to see again
and for me there is some irony in the timing as
Harley-Davidson gets set to release the Livewire
electric motorcycle which they claim will deliver
a level of excitement we haven’t felt before. “The
best auction I have ever been to,” said Tony. “It
was fun, fast moving, exciting and a mammoth
task.” The use of online and live bidding proved
successful as it was a no reserve auction. It was
above my expectations said Tony.
TB has always had motorcycle oil in his veins.
He says he has retained some motorcycles and a
modest amount of parts, as you can just imagine.
Tony intends remaining in touch with his many
acquaintances at events and rides going forward.
The third annual Bulli Antique Motorcycle Weekend
on August 24th and 25th is one of Tony’s continuing
hobbies as the Australia AMCA President and
enthusiast.
Thanks to all friends and supporters of Redfern,
to Johno and the Johnson family for establishing
Redfern Motorcycles in 1949, to Tony Blain and
Shaun Wilson for your contribution to Australian
motorcycling culture via the icon of Redfern Motor
Parts, with the history, lifestyle, mateship, and
Harley-Davidson motorcycles that went with it.
We’ll see you guys on the road. HD
