GILBY CHOPPER
Now if you’ve been keeping an eye on trends in the
custom bike scene, whether the professional builders
or amateur enthusiasts that support shows such as
the Smokeout or Born Free, you will be aware that
Shovelheads are becoming very popular. Especially
among builders who favour an old school style.
Now HEAVY DUTY has featured some wild and
crazy customs from Gilby’s Street Department in
River Falls, Wisconsin, such as the big green monster
Gilbzilla, that we ran a few issues ago. But somewhat
unusually, this bike is not one of Gilby’s ground-up
customs, but he has surely put his stamp upon it.
Here’s what he said:
When I bought the bike, it was already a chopper
but I had to put my own personal touch on it. I’ve
always loved the look and ride of a chopper. You can
see the builder’s personality in the build. I could ride
