7 An Evening Walk
by Sophia Spurgin
Including figures in
this abstract ICM
image adds a great
sense of scale. The
colour palette is
beautiful, too.

4 Point of Interest
by Mark Seton This
is a classic landscape
scene which has been
executed to perfection
here, with a fantastic
choice of square crop
and central framing.

3 The Rogue by
Keith Potter Having
the subject look into
the distance lends
an air of mystery and
intrigue. Monochrome
suits it extremely
well, too.

Do you invite guest speakers?
Yes. For this season, we have booked eight
speakers from a range of genres and skills.

Do members compete in competitions?
Yes. We have a number of internal and
inter-club competitions running throughout
the year, with success at a regional level.
Images have also been selected for
national-level competitions.

How many members do you have?
We currently have approximately 60 members.

Are any residential trips or outings planned?
Yes. We go away for the long bank holiday
weekend at the start of May. We choose a
Warner Hotel since the accommodation,
locations, food and price are always great,
and the entertainment is great fun.

Do you have any funny stories about the club?
We laugh a lot, in fact most of the time! I visited
Dorset with a group from the club last year; it
was just after the very bad Beast from the East
sketch. The hills and cliffs were ridiculously
slippery with mud and ice, so walking was a
challenge. Cliff, a member of the group, slipped
and tumbled the most, which became funnier
when we stumbled upon numerous signs
warning of ‘unstable cliffs’. At every sign we
placed Cliff in front of the sign and took a
photo. We found ourselves hilarious.

What are the club’s goals for the future?
We are doing really well in competitions and
with photos accepted by the East Anglian
Federation of Photographic Societies (EAF).
We ran an exhibition this year which was
very well attended. We all have a passion
for photography and never tire of learning.

8 Fox by Claire
Norman Superb
eye contact and an
unusual choice of
framing make what
might otherwise be
a mundane subject
really stand out.
