illes Marini, who made
his DAYS debut as Ted
Laurent in June 2018, will
wrap his run when Ted meets
his maker this week following
an encounter with Kristen and
Tony. “I was just there for a
contract and that was the end
of it,” says the actor. “They’re
doing what they need to do
and we follow what they want.
It was a great ride, I have to
say. It was fun.”
Marini admits he was sur-
prised by many aspects of
his Salem gig. “I had a lot
of apprehension,” he recalls.
“I was really worried about
remembering all of the dia-
logue. That, actually, was not
as bad as I thought. The cama-
raderie was much greater than
I ever thought it would be. I
really liked it. I’m kind of a
more shy person. I work and I
go home. This time, it was a lot
of talking with everyone and a
lot of fun times. I thought it
would be harder, and at the
end of the day, it wasn’t. I was
really happy when I was on
the show.”
The actor didn’t mind play-
ing his alter ego’s death scene.
“I actually like to die in shows,
because it’s always a new birthfor something else,” he explains.
“It pushes the envelope a little
bit with what you can do as an
actor. I used to be part of a show
called SWITCHED AT BIRTH.
I think my death went into like
three or four episodes. It is still
the most messages I get from
people today saying, ‘Those epi-
sodes made me cry. I rewatch
them all the time. It makes
me come close to my father,’
because I was playing the role of
a dad. It reminds a lot of people
of great tragedy, but helped them
to cope with it.”
He describes his last day on
DAYS as bittersweet. “You’re
starting to find a home and it
comes to an abrupt stop, and
you’re like, ‘Oh, no. I was really
happy here,’ ” Marini reflects.
