people finding a connection and eventu-
ally falling in love with each other. In
real life, some people go 10 years after
a broken relationship to meet somebody
so Sharon has been lucky [laughs]. And
I don’t have to meditate on it or convince
myself to like a new person. It’s cute when
you do a story of falling in love. It’s easier
than doing anything else. When I see I’m
going to have a new romance on the show,
I’m like, ‘Oh, good, that means I’ll be chill
for eight to 10 months and not screaming
and crying.’ I love telling a love story!”
As B&B’s Steffy, Jacqueline MacInnes
Wood has gone through spurts of intense
working relationships with various lead-
ing men, including Scott Clifton (Liam)
and Don Diamont (Bill). Following a fic-
tional breakup, “Yeah, you do miss them,”
she says of losing her scene partner. “You
don’t realize it right away because you’re
in such a heavy storyline, and sometimes
when you come back to that storyline,
it ignites something within both of the

actors, too. It’s fun. You’re almost going
back into that dating kind of feel. You get
so used to a rhythm with each other for
quite some time. When you have that time
apart, you do miss the character and who
you’re working with.” So she has been
thrilled with the recent reunion of Steffy
and Liam, which has reteamed her with
Clifton. “I thought about this the other day,
that it feels really good working with him
again,” she enthuses.
Thorsten Kaye has played out break-
up storylines on ONE LIFE TO LIVE
(where he played Patrick), PORT
CHARLES (where he played Ian), ALL
MY CHILDREN (where he played Zach)
and in his current role as B&B’s Ridge,
and notes, “Here’s what happens — when
the couple splits, it usually means that
one of the characters found somebody
else, because people usually don’t split to
be alone. And if you’re the one who has
somebody else, it’s a lot easier than being
the one who all of a sudden isn’t working
much anymore. Yes, you do miss work-
ing with that person every day — but it’s
not like you don’t see each other in the
makeup room, either.”
And in daytime, a good breakup pays
dividends in terms of on-screen angst.
Reasons Mary Beth Evans, “Sometimes
they have to break you up to bring drama,
because that’s what we do — drama!”
