INDI Irwin and longtime
boyfriend Chandler
Powell are engaged!
After nearly six years
of dating, the wildlife conserva-
tionist and the professional wake-
boarder announced their plans
to marry in a July 24 Instagram
post: “On my birthday I said ‘yes’
and ‘forever’ to the love of my
life,” the bride-to-be gushed.
Bindi declared her devotion to
her now-fiancé: “Chandler, close
to 6 years ago I fell in love with
you and every day since has been
a whirlwind of adventure and
true happiness.” That adventure
is rooted in the couple’s love of
the outdoors — Bindi continues
the legacy of her late father,
crocodile hunter Steve Irwin,
with her work at the Australia
Zoo and on the Animal Planet
series Crikey! It’s the Irwins, and
Chandler’s work keeps him regu-
larly in the surf. “We love going
to the beach, hiking, picnics, just
exploring together, looking for
wildlife no matter where we are
in the world,” Bindi told a source
back in 2015, shortly after meet-
ing Chandler when the athlete
randomly visited the zoo while
in Australia for a wakeboarding
competition.
The Dancing With the Stars
season 21 winner has said that
Chandler is the ultimate in a
supportive partner (when she was
competing on the show, Chandler
was “posting all about it, telling
people to vote”).
Her mother adores him, and
it’s likely her father would have
loved him too. Sounds like a per-
fect match — one that the couple
is ready to level up. Bindi’s Insta-
gram announcement ended with
a potential toast, and a directive:
“Here’s to a lifetime of friend-
ship, purpose and unconditional
love. Now let’s get married
already!” ★SAID
