afternoon or for spending a romantic
evening with your partner, a jhoola is a
welcome change from the conventional
sofa. Hand-Carved Punjabi elegant
Indoor Swing or be it steel with swing

that adds up to bring the space at its
best.

Artificial Torans
Artificial Torans is the new trend
after original flower torans, and these
amazing looking artificial torans will
make you home look more elegant,
definitely.

Paintings & statues
A brilliant way to add the Indian connect
to your décor is by having traditional
paintings in your contemporary
home. Large paintings can serve as
centrepieces. If you have a number
of smaller pieces, you can also create
a gallery wall. Indian home design
is also incomplete without the use of
statues. You can add on a sculpture or
a showpiece to any or many corners of
your home. For instance a painting of
women carrying matak’s, or Traditional
Bhangra Couple statue or sculpture
or the most common pieces, religious
idols can be great choices. You can

even include an old piece from your
grandparent’s collection to give a
vintage touch.

Accessories & antiques
Antique statues, antique doors and
window panels, and similar things not
only give a solid peep into history, but
also look extremely rich and elegant,
especially when blended in with
contemporary architecture. You can
also opt for masks, clay pottery, diyas,
leather puppets, crockery, decorative
boxes in sandalwood, metal or marble.
You can also use brass lamps and pots
as functional metallic accents. Another
classic traditional way is by adding
up an engraved wooden door typical
to Indian villages, a faux patterned
or intricately carved ceiling, semi-
permanent temple pillars which are
some of the many classic representatives
of Indian culture and its design ethos.

Luxurious traditional rugs &
cushions
For “One of a kind” look, add rugs and
cushions to your living room and rooms
as they will complement the rest of the
room in color and pattern. Upholstery
plays an important role here, so to keep
up with the environment indulge in

some expensive but good quality rugs
are made in pure organic material
and woven on handlooms. The yarn
is colored in chrome dye which is not
harmful to skin. For cushions, you
can opt for some traditional ones with
embroidery or you can take some bright
coloured ones in contrast with the room.
Tip: Use fine fabrics like silk or ikat for
upholstering your centrepieces or for
your cushions. Cotton and khadi can
be used for side chairs while simpler
fabrics like jute can be used for smaller
foot stools.

Jute blinder
Whether you go for a roll-up or Roman
style, woven bamboo will add a rustic
but sophisticated touch to a room and
also looks quite lovely when sunlight
filters between the weave. Plus, bamboo
tends to be sustainable, so you can
pat yourself on the back for giving the
environment a helping hand, too.

P.S. Desi decor offers many exciting
decorative choices! Choose colours and
furnishings that are practical and reflect
your personality. Once you strike the
right balance against the predominant
aesthetic, you will be able to create a
seamless experience in your home.
