Palmolive (India) Limited
launched the Keep India Smiling (KIS)
Mission - the brand’s commitment to
provide foundational support to over
20 million people every year to enable a
future they can smile about.
Mary Kom was happy to be the
part of the initiative which is launched
in partnership with ShikshaDaan
Foundation. While speaking to the
media she smiled and said, “I have seen
a lot of struggles in life and as I wasn’t
from a very well off family I had to make
a lot of sacrifices. My parents have been
supportive and even they have made a
lot of sacrifices but I am happy that this
initiative will provide opportunities to so
many deserving people at a foundational
level across India and help them to
build a better future for themselves not
only through the financial scholarship
but also through timely guidance and
mentorship. There is no dearth of talent
and there are various opportunities

in the country, all they need is a right
platform”.
She further added, “Being a Human
being there were times when I was low
and on the verge of giving up but then
my smile gave me strength to hold on
and come out strong as ever”.
After failing to qualify for the Rio
Games, Mary Kom had Mary Kom had
changed her weight category to 48kg
in December but now she is back to
competing in 51kgs. Mary Kom feels
that 51Kg category is not hard for her.
She says, “I was fighting in this category
4-5 years back. It was not continuous
because I kept changing my weight."
Talking about her future plans, she
said, "After 2020 I want to retire. So my
main mission is to get gold for India. I
really want to win (gold)”.
An eminent panel comprising
Mary Kom – six-time World Boxing
Champion, currently World No.1, and
also the only female boxer from India
to win medal at the Olympics; Dr.
Priyamvada Singh - distinguished social
development professional; Mr. Rajeev

Grover - ShikshaDaan advisor; and Ms.
Poonam Sharma - Colgate’s CSR Head,
will pick the most deserving candidates
for the scholarship and will also provide
mentorship as required.

everyone deserves a future they can
smile about and we believe that better
futures can be enabled by building
strong foundations.
Our Keep India Smiling Mission
is designed to provide foundational
support for both Oral Health
enhancement and for various aspects of
community development.

Today, I’m very excited to announce
the launch of the Keep India Smiling
Foundational Scholarship program,
which takes the Keep India Smiling
mission a step further and provides
direct support and mentorship to
many deserving people to realize their
dreams.”

Six times World boxing champion and London Olympics Bronze Medallist, Boxer Mary Kom launched Colgate-
