See Beyond – July 2019

(coco) #1
“Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance,
you must keep moving” (Albert Einstein). No need to
mention that to Ibis Kaba, our exuberant cover author.
Her story “Oceans of Magic, Music and Destiny” will
amaze you! Dave Ribble also touches on the idea of
movement. Read “The Gift in Risk” to hear about an
unexpected adventure. Brian Oney explains how he
learned to become extraordinary and you can, too!
Kristin Urabe will let you in on a little surprise about
her first year of college.

Johnny Edward Johnson and Julian Alexander
Vazquez both lost dear people. Discover how they
cope. And check out María Horna’s “Trapped Bird” to
learn how she handled an abusive relationship.

Both “A Therapist’s View on Character” by Shandy
Melson and my own “You Deserve My High
Expectations” speak to the intricate connection
between ourselves and those we counsel or teach.

So while you find yourself on the beach or poolside,
take See Beyond Magazine with you. Enjoy the great
topics this month and have a warm, wondrous
summer!

“And so with the sunshine and the great bursts of leaves
growing on the trees, just as things grow in fast movies,
I had that familiar conviction that life was beginning
over again with the summer,” said Nick Carraway, F.
Scott Fitzgerald’s narrator in The Great Gatsby.

When I think of summer, the shimmer of the ocean
comes to mind, along with the salty smell of morning
breezes, the endless blue sky, and a unique floral
palette. Delightful are the bright smiles, the giggles of
small children, laughter of adults and that easy-going
joie de vivre. The season brings this insistent desire to
travel, to explore new places, while reaching deeply
into the warmth of our own hearts, living in perfect
harmony with nature.

Days are longer, nights are warmer and life seems to
move at a different pace. A movie under the stars,
drinks on a terrace, a smile in a crowded piazza
somewhere in Italy, a tango lesson in Granada, or a
simple, relaxed evening with best friends—that’s what
summer is all about.

So, where is your mind taking you?
