Paul Eva lies in hospital

Jailed: Road rage driver

who beat up 80-year-old

A THUG who leapt from his car to
beat up an 80-year-old great grandfa-
ther has been jailed for 16 months.
John Dugdale, 56, knocked Paul
Eva unconscious, pushing him against
a brick wall and breaking his wrist,
nose and cheekbone, Croydon Crown
Court heard yesterday.
Mr Eva was walking with his wife in
Penge, south-east London, on his way
home from celebrating his daughter’s
birthday on the evening of April 21
when Dugdale drove by.
The pensioner swore at him when he
thought he had been nearly run over.
Dugdale, who had his 16-month-old
granddaughter with him, pulled over
and launched his road rage attack,
which was caught on CCTV footage.
It showed the attacker chasing after
Mr Eva on foot and pushing the pen-

sioner over from behind and into the
wall. Mr Eva, a retired bricklayer, was
left unconscious and covered in blood.
The assault was witnessed by Mr
Eva’s wife and a woman walking her
dog with her 14-year-old daughter, the
court heard.
Dugdale handed himself in to police
a month after the attack and pleaded
guilty to causing grievous bodily harm

at yesterday’s hearing. Judge Elizabeth
Lowe told him he had carried out a
“cowardly act” which had left his
victim with horrific injuries. “You were
obviously intent on violence the
moment you left your car,” she said.
Jobless Dugdale mouthed “love
you” to members of his family after
they broke down in tears following the
sentence. The court had heard Dugdale

had a previous conviction for
possession of an offensive weapon. He
told police he had “reacted like an
idiot” when he attacked Mr Eva.
Speaking outside court, Mr Eva said
Dugdale “deserved” jail after treating
him with “complete contempt”.
Asked if he had received any apol-
ogy, he said: “No, he wouldn’t even
look at me.”

Raunchy Rita rocks teeny bikini

POP star Rita Ora struggles to
contain herself on a summer
holiday in Ibiza.
The 28-year-old left little to
the imagination in a tiny black
bikini to soak up the sunshine
with friends.
In a picture on Instagram that
showed her pals messing
about on an inflatable unicorn

behind her, Rita wrote: “I mean
the gals are gonna hate that
they’re in this, but today was so
relaxing and just pure bliss.”
The Hot Right Now hitmaker
has previously said she finds
showing off her sexuality
“empowering”. “I like making a
dramatic impact,” she said. “I
really rely on being a woman.”
