MONKS brewing their own beer have turned their
venture into a money-spinner.
Around 300,000 bottles of Tynt Meadow English
Trappist ale from Mount Saint Bernard Abbey near
Coalville, Leics, are sold each year. It is even
exported to Belgium and Holland.
The monks set up the brewery when their dairy
business failed. It is one of only 14 official Trappist
breweries in the world and the beer is named after
the meadow where the monks originally settled.
Profits go to the abbey’s running costs or charity.
