    ‘CITRUS SORBET’
said she first became aware of
    hologram technology when rapper
Tupac Shakur, who was gunned down
in 1996 at the age of 25, was “brought
back to life” at the 2012 Coachella
    festival in California.
“While we’ve been working on the
idea of a Buddy hologram show, it was
only in the last year or so that we felt
    the technology and
    resources had reached a
    point that a successful
    tour could be
    mounted,” she said.
    Maria revealed that
    Buddy proposed to her
    on their first date after
    meeting him while
    working as a stand-in
    receptionist at Peer
    Music in New York.
    “Our time together
    was unforgettable,
    living in that small
    apartment in the Village,
    listening to him
    compose music and
touring with him – it was like a
    dream,” she added.
    Using technology pioneered by
BASE Hologram, the images of late
rock icons Roy Orbison and Buddy
Holly will share the stage on the
upcoming Rock ‘n’ Roll Dream Tour
which kicks off in the UK in October.

    Buddy Holly died aged 22
BUDDY Holly’s wife has spoken about
being reunited with her husband as a
hologram – 60 years after his death.
Maria Elena Holly had only been
    married to the 22-year-old musician
for six months when his plane crashed
    in Iowa in 1959.
Now her husband is coming back to
life on a worldwide tour – although
she admits it will be moving to see
    him again.
    The 86-year-old said:
    “I feel emotional every
time I see a photo of
    Buddy, every time I
    hear his songs, I think
    about him every day.
    “I miss him so much
    it hurts. It’s the simple
    things, how he smiled,
    and how tender and
    loving he was with
    everyone, especially
    me. While it won’t be
    easy seeing Buddy
because I miss him so, I
    do want to see him
    perform again and I
    truly want to see his
fans enjoying him in concert again.”
Maria, who remarried but is once
more a widow, says the hologram
would “introduce him to a new
    generation of fans”.
As well as Peggy Sue star Holly,
Ritchie Valens and “The Big Bopper”
J.P. Richardson also perished on the
flight that was taking them to a gig in
