enjoying better summer

The survey for Baxi, which is
launching an ad campaign
with the theme Moments of
Joy, found just nine per cent of
Britons feel “extremely
happy” these days.
Baxi sales director David
Cook said: “The state of the
nation isn’t at its most positive
right now.
“We have a long way to go
to improve world issues but
sometimes smaller changes
can make all the difference.”

Other cash windfalls like a
bonus at work, a tax refund,
getting to a till and finding an
item is cheaper than expected
or even discovering a fiver in a
pocket would cheer us up too.
Many of us would see our
mood improved if traffic was
reduced, Brexit got cancelled
and Donald Trump quit.
But having a treat like a
piece of cake or a cuppa, Britons want to see clean beaches

CLEARING the seas of
rubbish is high on a list of
things Britons say would make
them happier, a survey shows.
Progress on major global
issues such as climate change,
use of plastic and reducing
nuclear weapons would cheer
many of us up.
But we also take pleasure
from much simpler things such
as a pet sitting on our lap,
receiving a gift or smiling at
another person in the street.
Winning the lottery remains
the single thing most people
believe would bring happiness

Dean, who lives in Peterborough,
said: “At Amazon they monitor breaks.
If your 15-minute break is 16 minutes,
they are on your back about it.
“I must have been 10 minutes over,
so I think I did ‘break abuse’.
“Afterwards, I went back and sat at
my computer for five minutes before
thinking, ‘I don’t have to be here, I
don’t want to be here’. I said, ‘I’m sick,
I’m going home’ and went.”
Film buff Dean wants to use the
money to help him pursue his dream of
becoming a movie script writer.
He also plans to help younger
brother Robert, 23, who suffers from

autism. His first £10,000 instalment will
be paid within days, with further
money paid monthly until he is 54. He
wants to put a deposit down on a home
of his own and has already booked a
family trip to Disneyland Paris.
Dean won while playing Set For Life
for the first time last Monday. He said:
“It is an incredible feeling. I am now
worry free for the rest of my life. It was
always my dream to become a script
writer. I love films and the theatre and
now I can do something with this. I can
turn my passion into a job, something I
never thought I could do.”
Dean has also earmarked a large
portion of the money for the care of his
brother. He said: “I feel a responsibility
to guarantee his care for the future.”

I feel sick... I’ve just won a monthly £10k prize

LOTTERY winner Dean Weymes
pretended to be sick at work so he
could go home and tell his family he
had hit the jackpot.
And when asked why he was quitting
his job, he told his bosses on a form:
“Won lottery.”
Amazon worker Dean, 24, won the
National Lottery’s Set For Life draw,
and is the first to go public since its
launch in March. He wins £10,000 a
month for 30 years.
The lorry tracker was on a 15-minute
break when he checked his phone and
discovered he had won the prize, worth
£3.6million in total.
He was so overwhelmed that he was
10 minutes late back to his desk.
Dean then pretended he was sick so
he could go home and share the good
news with his family. He formally quit
