60 Daily Express Wednesday, August 7, 2019 FOOTBALL: TRANSFER DEADLINE...TWO DAYS TO GO

DX1ST

ARSENAL
KEY PLAYERS IN: Nicolas Pepe (£72m),
Dani Ceballos (loan).
WHAT THEY NEED: A centre-back.
Shkodran Mustafi had a difficult campaign and was
offered around Europe this summer. They require a
quality option there who can dominate.
WHO THEY ARE LIKELY TO GET: With Laurent
Koscielny leaving, do not be surprised if another
centre-back arrives. Arsenal have already strained
their budget and hope to make sales to balance it
out. Celtic full-back Kieran Tierney is still a target.

ASTON VILLA
KEY PLAYERS IN: Tyrone Mings (£26.5m),
Tom Heaton (£8m), Wesley Moraes
(£22m), Douglas Luiz (£15m).
WHAT THEY NEED: Boss Dean Smith does not
need a lot after splashing out more than
£130m. However, he is still on the lookout for even
more firepower up front.
WHO THEY ARE LIKELY TO GET: RB Leipzig striker
Jean-Kevin Augustin. The France Under-21
international joined from Paris Saint-Germain two
years ago but has slipped out of favour at his side.

BOURNEMOUTH
KEY PLAYERS IN: Philip Billing (£15m),
Lloyd Kelly (£13m), Jack Stacey (£4m),
Harry Wilson (loan).
WHAT THEY NEED: No more business
scheduled. The club will be hoping Denmark
Under-21 midfielder Billing, who scored six goals in
91 games for Huddersfield, will make an impact.
WHO THEY ARE LIKELY TO GET: The club are not
actively seeking any more players unless an
opportunity to sign a high-calibre addition arises,
as happened with Jack Wilshere in 2016.

BRIGHTON
KEY PLAYERS IN: Adam Webster
(£22m), Neal Maupay (£20m), Leandro
Trossard (£18m).
WHAT THEY NEED: Brighton have done some good
business but need a right-back after the retire-
ment of veteran Bruno. Martin Montoya is likely
to be first choice but there is little cover. The
Seagulls will be relying on Maupay to stay up.
WHO THEY ARE LIKELY TO GET: Brighton have
already spent relatively big money and are unlikely
to do any more business.

BURNLEY
KEY PLAYERS IN: Jay Rodriguez
(£35m), Erik Pieters (£1m).
WHAT THEY NEED: Sean Dyche has
brought back fans’ favourite Rodriguez and expe-
rienced full-back Pieters. He could do with another
central midfielder, with Everton’s
Mo Besic and Newcastle’s Jack Colback in the mix.
WHO THEY ARE LIKELY TO GET: Dyche would love
Leeds midfielder Kalvin Phillips but is probably out
of reach. Transfer activity will depend on whether
Burnley keep centre-half James Tarkowski.

CHELSEA
KEY PLAYERS IN: None.
WHAT THEY NEED: Another striker,
a winger and a central defender, but
the Blues are unable to dip their toes
in the market because of a two-window transfer
ban imposed by FIFA. They need someone to fill
the huge void left by the departure of Belgium
playmaker Eden Hazard to Real Madrid. One deal
they were able to secure in the summer was the
permanent signing of midfielder Mateo Kovacic,
who spent last season on loan from Real.

CRYSTAL PALACE
KEY PLAYERS IN: Gary Cahill (free).
WHAT THEY NEED: Quality. Boss Roy
Hodgson has cut a frustrated figure
this summer and knows his team need
reinforcing. The Eagles could do with a striker and
have yet to replace defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka. If
Wilfried Zaha leaves, they will need a winger too.
WHO THEY ARE LIKELY TO GET: A striker and a
right-back. Palace want Michy Batshuayi but he
looks set to stay at Chelsea, so RB Leipzig’s
Jean-Kevin Augustin has become an option.

EVERTON
KEY PLAYERS IN: Moise Kean (£25m),
Jean-Philippe Gbamin (£25m), Andre
Gomes (£22m), Fabian Delph (£8m),
Jonas Lossl (free).
WHAT THEY NEED: Everton are set for a busy end
to the window. They need a defender to replace
Kurt Zouma, a winger, plus right-back cover for
Seamus Coleman after Jonjoe Kenny left on loan.
WHO THEY ARE LIKELY TO GET: The club have had
a bid rejected for Abdoulaye Doucoure while Djibril
Sidibe and Wilfried Zaha continue to be linked.

LEICESTER
KEY PLAYERS IN: Youri Tielemans
(£40m), Ayoze Perez (£30m), James
Justin (£9m).
WHAT THEY NEED: Harry Maguire’s
£80m sale to Manchester United has left a hole in
defence but the Foxes will not pay crazy money for
a replacement as they already have Wes Morgan,
Jonny Evans, Caglar Soyuncu and Filip Benkovic.
WHO THEY ARE LIKELY TO GET: City have a list
of potential replacements for Maguire including
James Tarkowski, Nathan Ake and Lewis Dunk.

LIVERPOOL
KEY PLAYERS IN: Adrian (free), Sepp van
den Berg (£1.5m).
WHAT THEY NEED: Some cover on the
left-hand side after Alberto Moreno’s
exit and a top-quality back-up for their front three.
Jurgen Klopp feels the return of Alex Oxlade-
Chamberlain, Joe Gomez and Rhian Brewster to
full fitness means they have strength in depth.
WHO THEY ARE LIKELY TO GET: Not expected to
make any front-line signings. The only player that
could arrive is left-sided cover.

By Simon Mullock

was Chelsea manager. The player’s
advisers hope Old Trafford chiefs
will see the wisdom in allowing an
unhappy player to leave.
The Belgian, who banks
£195,000 a week despite taking a
£2m pay-cut after United’s failure
to qualify for the Champions
League, has already agreed personal
terms with Inter and Juve.
There have also been suggestions
in Turin that the proposed swap for
Dybala could be resurrected, given
Lukaku’s show of indiscipline and
Solskjaer’s need for reinforcements
before the transfer window closes
tomorrow.
United’s chances of landing
Christian Eriksen will be boosted if
the Denmark midfielder’s
Tottenham side are successful in a
bid to sign Barcelona star Philippe
Coutinho on a season-long loan.

LUKAKU PAYS

BIG PRICE FOR

STAYING AWAY

United slap

bad-boy Rom

with massive

£400k fine

ROMELU LUKAKU’S decision to
go AWOL at Manchester United
will cost the unsettled Belgium
striker almost £400,000.
Lukaku will be fined two weeks’
wages for spending the last two
days training with Anderlecht’s
youth team after seeing proposed
moves to Inter Milan and Juventus
fall through.
United have contacted the
26-year-old to demand an official
explanation for his unauthorised
absence. But they still have no idea
when the player intends to return
to the fold.
Lukaku turned up at his former
club Anderlecht when United’s
squad were given the day off on
Monday. He then failed to report
back for training at Carrington
yesterday.
When the forward does show up,
he can expect a dressing down from
boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer – and
the maximum fine possible.
Lukaku has been growing
increasingly militant in recent days.
He took to social media to suggest
he might be better off joining NBA
giants LA Lakers before posting
confidential details of the speed-
test timings of United’s squad.
He was ordered to delete the post
by the club and reminded of his
responsibilities.
The belief at Old Trafford is that
Lukaku’s attempt to force his
departure is being orchestrated by
agent Federico Pastorello.
The Red Devils want to recoup
the £75million they paid Everton
for Lukaku three years ago. That is
too expensive for Inter, with the
Italian club now looking at Roma’s
Edin Dzeko as a cheaper alternative
after having bids of £54m and
£68m rejected.
Juventus also failed with an offer
for Lukaku, which would have seen
Paulo Dybala move in the opposite
direction. The deal collapsed over
the Argentine’s £350,000 a week
wage demands.
Inter boss Antonio Conte is
continuing to plead with his club to
meet United’s valuation after
missing out on Lukaku when he

£70m for Lo Celso. Spurs want
only one of the pair.
Tottenham are also in
advanced talks to sign Fulham
wing-back Ryan Sessegnon for
about £25m ahead of
tomorrow’s 5pm deadline.
Coutinho’s arrival would
enable Spurs to allow Eriksen
to leave for United.
Arsenal have made it clear
they are not targeting
Coutinho after being strongly
linked with him. The Gunners
are still chasing a central
defender while Chelsea
currently have a transfer ban.

they are likely to want about
£21m for the loan deal.
Coutinho has endured a
difficult 18 months in Spain
after forcing a move from
Liverpool for £142m. Jurgen
Klopp is understood not to
want him back, while neither
United nor Manchester City
are thought to be interested.
It is not yet clear whether a
double signing of Coutinho and
Dybala would affect Spurs’ bid
to sign either Sporting
midfielder Bruno Fernandes or
Real Betis striker Gio Lo Celso.
Sporting want about £55m
for Fernandes while Betis are

to his squad as he targets a
Premier League title bid.
The Argentine worked
briefly with Coutinho when the
27-year-old was at Espanyol.
Dybala joined Juventus
from Palermo in 2015 and
scored 10 times for the Italian
champions last season.
United walked away from
what would have been an
expensive deal but Spurs’
Champions League presence
could see him compromise on
his pay demands.

Coutinho but are ready to
allow him to leave – though
