Five things on our radar this month

THE CHECKLIST

CURRENT OBSESSION

Name
Cher

You know her best as
the fi rst-name-only with
an unforgettable wail.

You’ve confused her with
fellow gothic beauty
Anjelica Huston (her
competition for a role in
The Addams Family).

You fi rst loved her as
the “babe” in “I Got You
Babe,” Winona’s mom in
Mermaids or the siren
who made you belieeeeve
in life after love.

You were psyched
to see her
in last year’s megahit
sequel Mamma Mia!
Here We Go Again.

And now she’s back as
Cher! (Who else?)
The comeback queen is
touring her new album of
ABBA covers. Multiple
locations across Canada ,
April and May.

MUSIC

Last year’s visiting
exhibition by art rock
star Yayoi Kusama
was the buzziest
attraction in Toronto.
Which explains why
more than 4,
people contributed to
a crowdfunding eff ort
in support of “Let’s
Survive Together,” a
permanent installation.

ART

TV
Murder

most foul
Killing Eve, the ultimate
cat-and-mouse thriller
(where the mouse is a
sociopathic, modelesque
murderess, and the cat
is Sandra Oh), is back for
its second season after
winning a Golden Globe
for its Canadian star.
Bravo, April 7.

TV

Lions and tigers and bears (and monkeys and stingrays
and penguins) are the stars of the David Attenborough–
narrated doc series Our Planet—Netfl ix’s follow-up to the
BBC’s hugely popular Planet Earth. Eight one-hour
episodes feature the fi nest of fl ora and fauna from around
the globe, including eight wilderness areas never before
seen on fi lm (or Insta). The series is a feast for the eyes
with an important message about the role of humanity
in our planet’s preservation. A perfect binge-watch for
Earth Day (April 22), if you can wait that long.
Netfl ix, April 5.

If there’s one thing we know for certain about the fi nal season of the medieval drama Game of Thrones,
it’s that nobody is safe from the chopping block (or poison pie or fi re-breathing dragon). These fi erce
female characters have managed to survive seven seasons, but before the fi nal credits roll, it seems safe
to assume a few more heads will fi rst. HBO Canada, April 14.

TV

Battle royale

LIKELY TO CROAK
LIKELY TO CONQUER
Arya Stark
The Faceless Man
has taught her well.

Daenerys Targaryen
She’s still got
two dragons, so ....

Cersei Lannister
She’ll do whatever
(and whoever) it takes.

Sansa Stark
So. Much. Bad. Luck.

Brienne of Tarth
Good deeds never
go unpunished.
