(Jacob Rumans) #1
when stuck on something and
of course James Yaffa our
Publisher. Thanks as well to
the production team of Kristal
Young, Matthew Gunn, Ruby
Ren, Ana Heraud and Lauren
Esdaile for making it look so
good and putting up with me!

Here's to many issues to come,

HELLO...

...and welcome to another
edition of Australia's premier
mountain biking magazine!
Before we go any further I'd like to
take the time to introduce myself
as the new Editor of this fine
publication. My name is Dominic
Unwin and I'm very proud to be in
charge of MBA.
I'm a sports journalist by trade
and am really keen to make
MBA bigger and better! Our
goal remains to serve up quality
content that resonates with our
audience. We are always on
the lookout for ways to evolve
however. We can't wait to see
where MBA can get to across the
print, digital, audio and video
spheres and you'll be right there
alongside us for the journey.
I'll be upfront it's been a little
while since I've been in the
literal saddle. My teenage days
of ripping up fire trails around
Canberra seem a lifetime ago
but I can't wait to get back into
it. My precious 2010 Giant Boulder
has followed me wherever
I've moved and has never
let me down. Stay tuned
for our adventures over the
coming months.
We have an issue that will
take you around the globe.

can't wait to test out even more
bikes in upcoming issues.
Lastly I have some thank
yous to make. This first edition
of the magazine has been
a hell of a ride and I am
very grateful to the help and
support of my colleagues. Tim
Partridge, advertising guru,
Kea Pleasance, awesome
sales assistant, Nat Bromhead,
Editor of Bicycling Australia and
super helpful sounding board

DROP OFF

From scaling volcanoes in the
Andes to two blokes competing
in a rough-as-guts endurance
race in South Africa. We even
check in a little closer to home
with my fellow Canberran Dan
Oakman as he takes on the
Monaro Cloudride.
We have a review of the Surly
Karate Monkey and some new
gear including Aussie Grit's new
range, a company founded by
F1 legend Mark Webber. We Dominic Unwin
