Mountain Biking Australia – August 2019

(Jacob Rumans) #1

It’s different in Europe. So in German-
speaking countries you will see that e-MTBs
are more popular in cities than regular bikes.
In other countries like Italy, Spain and the
United Kingdom it’s starting to be
(more popular).

MR: For commuting purposes they (Australians)
won’t use e-MTBs. They will use more of what we
call an ‘eSpresso.’. It’s more of an e-Hybrid and
much better suited to commuting.
Obviously e-MTBs have been slower on
the uptake for commuting purely because
the roads are dangerous here in Australia
compared to Europe. The councils are working
as fast as they can to provide a network of bike
paths to make it safer for cyclists but many
people still feel unsafe on the roads.

more routine.

the e-One Sixty has
