his year, Samsung is celebrating the 10th anniversary of
its Galaxy series smartphone by unveiling a new breed
of smartphones which includes a foldable phone along
with the tenth iteration of Galaxy S10-series. Although
Samsung launched its first phone back in 2001, the first Galaxy
smartphone was announced in April 2009. Since then Samsung
has pushed the limits of mobile technology and set the standard
for what the smartphone can, and should be. Let’s take a look at
the journey of a particular Galaxy S-series:
In 2011, the
company introduced
Galaxy SII with
its best-in-class
internals. At that
time, it was one
of the sleekest,
measuring just
8.49mm with
glass and plastic
sandwiched together.
In March 2010,
Samsung launched
the Galaxy S
smartphone
with a 4-inch
AMOLED display,
Hummingbird
processor and ran
a Google Android
operating system.
In 2012, Samsung
introduced
Galaxy S3 with a
revolutionary super
AMOLED display
and a massive
2100mAh battery.
And it was the
first Samsung
phone which was
a true premium
iPhone competitor.
In 2013, the
company launched
Galaxy S4 with
improved features
and hardware
upgrades. The
year was more
about building on
the successes of
previous devices.
In 2014, Samsung
introduced Galaxy
S5 came with IP67
rating offering
dust and water-
resistance. There was
a fingerprint scanner
stacked under the
